Chris Cerrito

Christian Cerrito is an Emeryville, CA based interactive artist and educator interested in creating playful, surprising, and meaningful real world experiences. His recent work has been focused on using technology to illustrate and amplify human behaviors and interactions, as well as on using simple systems to re­imagine public spaces.

 

In 2009, Cerrito received his Masters Degree from New York University’s Interactive Telecommunications Program focusing on physical computing and interaction design.Upon completing his course of study at NYU he served as both a Resident Researcher and an Adjunct Professor.

In 2010, Cerrito accepted a position as one of the two first New Media Fellows at the Exploratorium, San Francisco’s famed hands on museum of science, art, and human perception. After completing his year long fellowship, he was hired as a New Media Exhibit Developer, and is currently developing a series of interactive exhibits based on cooperation and game theory as part of a National Science Foundation grant titled “The Science of Sharing”.

Cerrito’s work has been featured at institutions such as the New York Hall of Science (Queens,NY), the Telfair Museum of Art (Savannah, GA), the MIT Media Lab (Cambridge, MA), EXIT Art (NY, NY), The DUMBO Arts Festival (NY, NY), zero1 (San Jose, CA), and at the Burning Man Festival (Black Rock City, NV). He has developed and taught workshops on topics ranging from rapid prototyping to solar technology at places such as the Smithsonian Museum of American History (Washington, D.C.), Solar One (New York, NY), and B.E.A.M. Camp (Stafford, NH).

Above all else, Cerrito enjoys making stuff and building things.
